In addition to everything you’ll read below, all members of our staff have varying years of experience in geriatric and special needs care for dogs, are Pet CPR and First Aid certified, and are background checked and drug screened through Acutraq.
Kristen and Chad Parkhurst
Hi, I'm Kristen! As the CEO of Shaggy Chic Pet Services, I began my professional career with animals while working in veterinary clinics in 2008. Shaggy Chic was established in 2010 as a health and hygiene centric in-home dog grooming salon with dog walking and pet sitting on the side. I met my husband, Chad, in 2019 after a romantic Bumble match where our mutual love of dogs and altruistic endeavors allowed sparks to fly. The evolution of the business changed trajectories and just before we married in 2021, we decided to form an LLC together, focusing efforts solely dog walking and pet sitting. We both have extensive experience with owning and operating separate rescue organizations which are now defunct, as well as plenty of hours logged as volunteers and as fosters with several rescues in Houston. Additionally, Chad is a former board member for Citizens for Animal Protection. While he has a demanding day job working at a Big 4 accounting firm, he still has time to serve as our CFO. Kristen's additional certifications: CPPS (Certified Professional Pet Sitter), Canine Cognition from Duke University.
Trisha
To know Trish is to love Trish! She is a doting mama to her wonderful 13 year old Sawyer, a big ol goofy senior pup with special needs. Her talent knows no ends, from her artistry as a painter to a skilled photographer. She even spent some time working in human cardiology before joining our team - when she dishes medical knowledge it's quite the treat! Trisha has been a stronghold throughout our growth since 2021. The trusting relationships she has built with the pets in our care is absolutely unparalleled. Additional certifications include: Canine Cognition from Duke University.
Eunice
Our go-getter and future veterinarian, Eunice, is a mama to her household of 4 dogs, Canelo, Kona, Millie, Ranger, and 1 kitty named Panini. She is completing her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from University of Houston while also attending Lone Star College to complete her Associates to become a Veterinary Technician. She has experience volunteering at a local veterinary clinic and is about to begin her internship at another. Eunice has aspirations to open a rescue and we are excited to watch that dream come true! Additional certifications include: Fear Free certified.
Behren
Our newest teammate is a proud cat dad to Chai and Espresso and is a recent Marketing graduate from Texas State University. While he's been around dogs since the age of 12, his experiences expanded while helping his family operate their successful 501c3 no-kill bully breed rescue here in Houston. Behren then spent 3 years working under highly decorated canine behaviorists at their board & train facility while in college. Watch out for his witty one liner zingers! We are ecstatic to have him on the team!
